Turmeric is a golden-orange root that can be ground into a spice rich in  color, flavor and nutrition. Similar to ginger, turmeric comes from the rhizome (root) of a plant. It has been used in cooking for hundreds of years. It has also been used in ayurvedic and medicine in China and India. Turmeric contains a natural compound (polyphenol) called curcumin, which has both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

Our turmeric is grown locally in Northern Virginia made possible by ample compost and a season extending high tunnel. Whole turmeric root sold by the lb.
